Change is in the air. I currently work for a local newspaper as their District Sales Manager. At times, my hours are long and my sleep is limited. Stress is a key factor in my job. It is simply unavoidable. So, I've decided to make a change. Not because I'm completely unhappy with my job, but because I need to limit stress in order to take care of myself so I can be the best mom and wife that I can be.
You see, with MS, stress can exacerbate conditions and make your body
act out. It's not good for people in general to exist in a stressful
environment and even more so with MS. Change is difficult, but
sometimes it's for the best.
That being said, I have found a new job with a sub shop. Yep, I'll be making sandwiches. I know, I have a degree in genetics and another one in communications. However, I need to do what's best for my health and sometimes that means biting the bullet and doing something you didn't expect.
I can't say I'm disappointed or sad about the change. I'm actually quite excited to begin the new line of work. I think it will be a fun time and I'll be able to meet a lot of people. People who won't be calling me at four in the morning asking where their paper is.
Yes, it was difficult to make the decision. My family had a little pow wow and we discussed the change. My sons are on board and ready for the subs! They are also excited that I will be working just three blocks from home. My husband has been awesome. He told me to do what I felt was best for my health and he'd support my decision any which way it went. So, I put my two-week notice in and I'm going for it.
Here begins a change. One that will hopefully be a step in the right direction. Wish me luck!
