Last night I made the Strombolis using the recipe I found on Pinterest. The dough cooked up really well and tasted great. I think I might try it as pizza dough next time around. The boys loved the taco Stromboli and my husband and I liked the pizza one. So, we had an even split. What? We didn't agree?! That never happens!
I added large pepperonis, a little beef, shredded mozzarella, light sauce, and some bacon crumbles to the pizza one and the taco one just had taco seasoned meat and shredded cheddar. I served lettuce, seasoned refried beans, and sour cream with the taco one, but the boys liked it just fine without any added sides. Let me tell you, these suckers were huge! I think the next time I make these using the homemade dough recipe I will either make four small Strombolis or half the dough recipe and make two smaller ones. We ended up freezing half of each of the ones we made, because they were so large. Something for later!
As you can see I busted out the fine plastic plates for this meal. This was fine dining at its greatest! These things are really filling and super simple to make. The only thing I would recommend would be to flip the Stromboli over about ten minutes into baking and let the underside of it get some bake time in. I ended up sticking them back into the oven, because the bottom was a little less than done.
I think these would be great as large cinnamon rolls as well. The possibilities are endless.
As for day two of my 100 days of Pinterest challenge, I decided to clean my washing machine using the technique I Pinned. I did change the method somewhat. The method originally called for bleach during step two, but I don't keep bleach in the house anymore. So, I ran the second cycle with hot water and used Borax. I let it soak and then scrubbed it with a sponge. The grime came off easily. I have to admit, it smells so much better and looks nice and clean. I don't know how I never thought about cleaning my washing machine, but I will from now on.
Don't forget to find me on Pinterest and follow along with my Pinterest challenge. You can suggest pins you'd like to see tried or try them out yourself. Thanks for checking in!
