100 Days of Pinterest: Day 3 - How to Cut a Watermelon

Today, after my husband and I finished cleaning out the flower beds I decided to work on my challenge for the day. I ended up cutting a watermelon up for the boys using a Pinned idea on how to cut the watermelon so that it can be shared a little easier. Let me tell you, it actually worked pretty well for such a simple method. I left it sitting on the counter and they just grabbed pieces as they went.

After that, I started on my next Pin. It's an apple pork loin with honey, cinnamon, and apple juice that I'm cooking in the crock pot as we speak. It smells so good!! I can't wait to give it a try. I am also in the process of baking some homemade potato chips from a recipe I also found on Pinterest.  Not sure how they'll turn out yet, but I figured it was worth a shot.

Earlier, after I started the pork loin in the crock pot, I also made some hard boiled eggs. I used a Pin on this one too. (I'm Pinterest crazy people!!) I added a 1/2 teaspoon of baking soda to the water before I added the eggs. I couldn't wait to try one (and of course I cracked it when I was transferring it to the cold bath) and I have to admit it peeled pretty well for a fresher egg. I usually use eggs I've had for a while to make hard boiled ones, because they will peel better. I only buy cage-free, grain-fed brown eggs for my daily cooking, but I wasn't sure how they'd turn out with Easter paint on them so I caved in and purchased some plain old white eggs for coloring.

As you can see by the picture, I hard-boiled some brown ones too. Tomorrow I'm going to make some deviled eggs using a recipe I found on Pinterest. It's bacon ranch deviled eggs. Sounds pretty good. Hopefully it is, or I won't live this one down.

Well, I think my chips are almost done. I'll be back tomorrow with my potato chip results and to fill you in on the Pins I did. Don't forget to jump over to Pinterest and follow me.

Take care!
