I love chocolate. I also love pie. So, it only makes sense to make a chocolate cream pie. This is my older son's favorite pie. He loves it so much that he requested this for his birthday in place of cake. That's when you know it's good.
This is a super simple pie that can be made in less than twenty minutes. It's great for a familly dessert or to take to a get-together.
I originally found the recipe on Food Network. Since they are the experts, you can bet it's a really great recipe.
Here you go!
Chocolate Cream Pie
Pie Filling:
1 chocolate bar
8 oz bar of softened cream cheese
1/2 cup sugar
1/3 cup cocoa powder
1/3 cup milk
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
hot chocolate powder (optional)
Whipped Topping:
1 cup heavy whipping cream
2 tablespoons sugar
Beat softened cream cheese, sugar, cocoa powder, milk and vanilla extract until fluffy and free of lumps. Spread filling in the premade pie crust. Combine heavy whipping cream and sugar in seperate bowl. Beat until soft peaks form (1-2 minutes). The whipped topping will be a little thicker than Cool Whip. Spread whipped topping on top of pie filling. Top with shaved chocolate bar. I use my cheese grater and I refrigerate the bar before grating it. It makes this step a lot easier. For a little added flavor, you can sprinkle a little hot chocolate powder on the top of the whipped topping with the chocolate shavings.
As always, thanks for reading.
Take care,
