If there is one thing that can make my sons quiet for a few minutes, it's these Chocolate Chip Blondie Bars. They usually ask me to make them every few weeks. Of course, I always do. I mean, seriously, who doesn't like a little chocolate now and then? Since I don't purchase store made cookies or processed snacks, I try to find the easiest recipes I can to satisfy their sweet tooth.
The nice thing about these bars is that they don't require a lot of ingredients and they are easy to make. My oldest son actually made the batch in these images. He's only twelve, but I think it's fair to say he'll be a good cook when he grows up. He's already a critic, so he'll probably be pretty well versed when it comes to food.
My mom used to make blondies when I was a kid, so I only thought it fair that I pass on the Blondie Bar Love! I hope you enjoy these sweet treats too!
Chocolate Chip Blondie Bars
1 cup all-purpose flour3/4 cup brown sugar
1/4 cup sugar
1 egg
1/2 cup butter (1 stick), melted
1/4 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon baking powder
1/2 cup chocolate chips
- Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Grease an 8x8 baking dish and set aside.
- In a large mixing bowl, combine sugar, brown sugar, and flour, mixing well.
- Add egg, salt, and melted butter to the sugar/flour mix and stir until mixed well.
- Fold in baking powder.
- Add chocolate chips and only stir until the chips are mixed throughout batter. (Add nuts if you'd like as well)
- Pour mix in to greased baking dish and bake for 25 minutes.
- You can eat these warm, but they are so much better once they've cooled!

There you go. An easy treat to whip up when you're in that chocolate mood, but don't feel like making cookies. You can substitute the chocolate chips for M&M's, Reeses Pieces, or whatever your heart desires. Make them your own.
As always, thanks for reading.
Take care!
